Vernon Corea

Vernon Corea, a pioneering broadcaster with Radio Ceylon / Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, and the BBC, was born in Kurana, Katunayake in Ceylon, on 11 September 1927. He died in New Malden, Surrey in the UK on 23 September 2002. Vernon Corea was appointed an Ethnic Minorities Adviser to the BBC in 1978. He paved the way for the BBC's successful Asian Network by leading training of ethnic minority broadcasters at the BBC.He also presented one of the most successful BBC radio programs called ' London Sounds Eastern.'
